According to Cleveland.com, the Cleveland Clinic has finalized a deal with Akron General Health System to become its minority owner.  This $100 million deal will allow the Cleveland Clinic to invest in the Akron General Health System and make Akron General its exclusive health system partner in Summit County, Ohio.

The investment will be primarily used to refurbish the downtown campus, which may include a new emergency department, as well as equipment upgrades and enhanced heart and cancer care.

After a year, the agreement allows the Cleveland Clinic to take ownership of the smaller health system.
