2013-07-02 – Allscripts to Manage Liberty Hospital Information Technology Services
Liberty Hospital, the largest hospital on the I-35 corridor between Liberty, MO and the Iowa Border, is pleased to announce it has signed an agreement with Allscripts to manage its information technology (IT) services.
Currently, Liberty Hospital has a combined staff of 30 employees managing the computer information systems (CIS) and IT programs at the hospital, clinics and affiliates. With the new agreement, these employees will transfer to the Allscripts staff and be managed by Kelly Dungee, Liberty Hospital Interim Chief Information Officer.
“Liberty Hospital currently uses Allscripts for our electronic health records and physician order entry. This expanded relationship will allow the hospital to focus on providing top patient care while Allscripts provides the expertise on the Information Technology side to improve clinical, financial and operational outcomes,” said David Feess, President and CEO of Liberty Hospital.
“Allscripts is a global company that has deep IT expertise,” continued Feess. “By combining our team with theirs, we will be able to put long-term strategies and systems in place that will last far into our future.”
Within the next 12 to 18 months, Liberty Hospital has several significant information strategies that must be implemented; these include the federal government’s Meaningful Use Program, ICD-10 Coding Update and Health Information Exchanges.
