2013-03-06 – The Christ Hospital Names Mike Keating CEO
The Christ Hospital has named former Fifth Third Bancorp executive Mike Keating as its president and CEO.
Keating has led the hospital in an interim role since former CEO Susan Croushore stepped down from the position last September. The health network’s board of directors announced the appointment Monday. The move is effective immediately.
“Mike brings a combination of experiences, strategic thinking, an entrepreneurial spirit and proven leadership to his role as president and CEO,” said Thom Gerdes, who led the committee that conducted a national search for the position.
Keating has been on the the Christ Hospital board for more than 21 years. He previously chaired the board for five years, helping lead the hospital through its withdrawal from the Health Alliance starting in 2007.
“He’s a great leader, and he knows the community extremely well,” said George Vincent, board chairman for the hospital. “He has a broad base of experience, and his varied background gives him the perfect skill set to take on this role at this time.”
Previously, Keating was executive vice president of Fifth Third Bancorp, where he oversaw its investment management business. He is also co-founder and partner in his private equity firm Keating Vollmer & Co. LLC.
“The Christ Hospital Health Network is a wonderful asset of the region, and I welcome the opportunity to contribute in yet another role, especially in a challenging economy and as health care is rapidly changing,” Keating said. “I look forward to working with an insightful and engaged board and the exceptionally talented physicians, management team, patient caregivers and volunteers within the Christ Hospital Health Network.”
A Cincinnati native, Keating graduated from St. Xavier High School, earned his bachelor’s degree in economics at Denison University and his graduate degree in law from the University of Cincinnati.
