CVS Caremark announces MedStar Health will integrate their electronic medical records from the health system’s 10 hospitals and 4,000 doctors with CVS pharmacies and 9000 Minute Clinics across the country.
Through this clinical affiliation, MedStar Health patients will continue to have access to clinical support, medication counseling, chronic disease monitoring and wellness programs at CVS/pharmacy stores and MinuteClinic, the retail health care division of CVS Caremark.
This means that when a person gets care at a pharmacy or retail clinic, it will be entered into MedStar’s records for the doctor to see. Nurse practitioners at a CVS clinic will be able to see relevant health information within a patient’s electronic record, though pharmacies will not.
This partnership marks CVS’s 41st agreement with health systems and healthcare providers across the country.
