According to a report from Crain’s Chicago Business, Northwestern Memorial HealthCare is paying nearly a quarter of a billion dollars as part of the deal to acquire Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation (NMFF), the powerful doctors group of Northwestern University.
Likely one of the highest prices ever paid for a physician practice, the health care system is paying the tidy sum of $230.5 million upfront, plus annual payments totaling at least $118.5 million through 2016. The lofty dollar amount reflects the rare size and unusual scope of NMFF, the second-largest doctors’ group in the Chicago area before the deal.
