Rush University Medical Center has completed its full acquisition of Rush Oak Park Hospital.

With the Rush acquisition, the institution will no longer be a Catholic hospital. Rush has operated the hospital on a day-to-day basis for some 15 years, and the closing of this agreement marks the end of the century-plus sponsorship of the hospital by the Wheaton Franciscan religious order.

The final agreement was approved by both the Vatican and the Illinois Health Facilities & Services Planning and Review Board.
