University of California San Francisco Medical Center announces that they will expand care in their campuses of Parnassus and Mount Zion.

These expansions of care come following the successful opening and move of 131 patients to UCSF’s Medical center at Mission Bay.

The Parnassus campus will now focus on critical care, with the newly vacated floors allowing for expansion of care for complex medical conditions such as blood diseases and cancers, neurological diseases, orthopedics and kidney, living, and heart transplant services.
Over the next few years, this campus will also undergo carefully timed renovations of various floors to help concentrate specialized units.
For Mount Zion, UCSF plans to make this a “23-hour stay” ambulatory surgery site.  This will allow certain patients whose surgeries may involve longer recovery times to be treated as outpatient, rather than being admitted to the hospital.
Additionally, Mount Zion’s services for women’s gynecological care and breast cancer center will continue to be areas of focus.
