Sioux City Journal reports that Winnebago Indian Health Service (IHS) Hospital will continue to operate despite the termination of their Medicare contract. The report states the hospital lost Medicare funding because the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) had caused “‘immediate jeopardy’ to patients, leading to the death of a man earlier this year and harming at least nine other people” last Thursday. Sioux City Journal states that the hospital has not filed an appeal and “IHS is still considering its next course of action”.
