Top 10 hospitals by labor and delivery births

If you were born in the last 100 years, chances are that you were born in a hospital. Dozens, if not hundreds, of babies are born in almost every hospital every day. But some labor and delivery wings are much busier than others.

Using the Definitive Healthcare HospitalView product, we created a list of the top 10 hospitals with the most labor and delivery births. The results in the following analysis are sourced from the Medicare Cost Report and proprietary research, and aggregated from the most recent 12-month interval tracked in our database.

Which hospitals have the most labor and delivery births?

The hospital with the highest number of births on our list was Northside Hospital Atlanta in Georgia. The hospital accounted for 0.41% of hospital deliveries tracked.

The hospital with the second most labor and delivery births was Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies in Florida. This facility accounted for 0.37% of analyzed delivery births in the U.S..

The third-place hospital is Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, representing 0.31% of U.S. deliveries analyzed.

Tisch Hospital, in seventh place with 0.27% of deliveries, had the most dedicated labor and delivery beds in 2023.

Which states had the most labor and delivery births?

California had the most labor and delivery births last year, representing 12.46% of all hospital births analyzed, despite only having one hospital on our top 10 list.

Behind California sits Texas, with 10.48% of hospital births, followed by New York (6.44%) and Florida (5.84%).
