According to the Desert Sun, Tenet Healthcare has submitted a proposal to purchase Desert Regional Medical Center, currently owned by the Desert Healthcare District, in a $319 million to $380 million deal. The negotiations will be ongoing, but the first hurdle will be for voter approval within the healthcare district. Tenet Healthcare made the presentation to the Desert Healthcare District board this week. The board is currently the owner of the hospital, a responsibility it wants to change, and also supports philanthropic health care initiatives, a responsibility it wants to keep.
