For this Healthcare Insight, we reviewed data from the Definitive Healthcare ClaimsMx product for the Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) vision and hearing category.
What are the most common vision HCPCS codes?
In 2021, ClaimsMx tracked over 6 million vision procedures across about 120 HCPCS codes. The following table lists the most common vision HCPCS codes.

Frame purchases (V2020 Vision services, frames purchases) had nearly 1.5 million medical claims in 2021. Different types of lenses for those frames follow in the list. Options for the lenses also appear with frequency, such as anti-reflective coating (V2750), progressive lenses (V2781) and tinting (V2744).

Procedure claims for digital hearing aids in 2021 reached over 91,000. The HCPCS codes for hearing aid fitting and checking (V5011), conformity evaluations (V5020), assessment for hearing aids (V5010) and hearing screenings (V5008) also appear in the list of most common audiology codes.
