How many HCA hospitals are there in Texas?

According to our healthcare commercial intelligence, Texas has 70 active hospitals that operate within the HCA network—more than any other state HCA Healthcare operates in.

Using Definitive Healthcare’s HospitalView product, we created a list of the HCA hospitals in Texas ranked by net patient revenue (NPR), looking at the most recent 12-month interval tracked in our database. NPR (or money generated from patient services collected from payors) is an important metric for hospitals to track because it is a key indicator of a facility’s financial health. Hospitals use NPR to develop budgets and financial plans, make decisions regarding staffing or facility expansion, manage risk, and much more.

NPR excludes charitable donations, foundation earnings, contractual adjustments, bad debt, or money from other financial sources.

Which HCA hospitals in Texas have the highest NPR?

Methodist Hospital in San Antonio takes first place on our list with a net patient revenue of more than $2 billion, according to the most recent 12-month interval tracked in our database. This facility’s NPR grew by 16.4% since its previously reported financial year and scored within the 86th percentile on Definitive Healthcare’s financial strength dashboard. Available in our HospitalView product, the financial strength dashboard measures a hospital’s financial performance against other hospitals tracked within our platform.

Medical City Dallas is in second place on our list, with an NPR of about $1.2 billion. Its NPR grew by 13.2% since its previously reported financial year and it scored within the 80th percentile. St. David’s Medical Center in Austin takes third place, with an NPR of more than $870 million. The facility’s NPR grew by 3% in its last reported financial year, and it scored within the 40th percentile on our financial strength dashboard.
