Top 20 physician groups using a MEDITECH EHR
Physician groups leverage electronic health records (EHRs) as a digital record of a patient’s paper chart to help track a patient through their care journey.
Unlike hospitals and larger healthcare facilities, physician groups primarily rely on ambulatory EHR software as they’re designed specifically to meet the needs of small physician practices and outpatient centers.

What is an ambulatory EHR?
An ambulatory EHR is a software designed primarily for outpatient centers and small physician practices, where patient visits do not include an overnight stay. EHRs capture data on a patient such as diagnoses, medical history, demographics, medications, immunizations, lab results, vitals notes and more. This data can be shared amongst healthcare providers to better coordinate care.
Ambulatory EHRs tend to be less complex than inpatient EHRs and have different certification criteria that are more focused on patient-centric features.
