Largest hospice and palliative care physician group practices

When you’re readying your marketing efforts to promote a product, software, or service, physician groups can be appealing targets. Physician groups bring together multiple physicians under one specialty into a single network that often centralizes their purchasing decisions. By marketing to physician groups, you can thus profit from bulk sales and long-term partnerships.

Targeting a random physician group is not enough, though; you must be efficient and effective in your sales targeting by prioritizing potential clients who are most likely to benefit from your offerings—otherwise, you may waste both your time and theirs.

For those looking to narrow down their target list, physician group size and specialty are two useful qualities to emphasize. For instance, if one physician in a hospice and palliative care physician group can benefit from your offerings, the other physicians within the group may also benefit from it. Thus, larger hospice and palliative care physician groups feature more sales opportunities in the form of additional locations and physicians that can benefit from your offerings.

How many hospice and palliative care physician group practices are there in the U.S.?

Our database has identified 30 active hospice and palliative care physician group practices in the U.S. However, it’s common for physician groups to have several different locations—this allows them to access more patients and remain competitive. In other words, the number of physician group practices does not reflect the number of hospice and palliative care practices in the United States.

Why target hospice and palliative care physician groups?

When you target a private practice doctor rather than a hospital or health system, it is usually easier to reach their executives and decision-makers. However, the medical landscape is shifting, and many physicians are joining physician groups to take advantage of the group benefits. High-value physician groups should be a key target for your marketing efforts.

Hospice and palliative care physician groups are focused on providing care and comfort for those with serious illnesses and little time left to live. However, in order to provide these services and honor their patients’ end-of-life, hospice and palliative care physician groups require the proper equipment, technology, and staff training.

With a greater number of physicians and clinics, large hospice and palliative care physician groups can present significant sales opportunities. It’s also worth noting that hospice and palliative care is the fastest growing specialty based on claims data.

Tips for targeting hospice and palliative care physician groups

In order to see the greatest success with your marketing effort, it’s crucial that you focus on targeting your marketing to the needs of each palliative care physician group. Each physician group will have a unique set of priorities and challenges, and your marketing should reflect these. By examining the palliative care or hospice physician group’s data, such as claims, Medicare charges, and tech install information, you can gain insights into the physician group that you can then use to advance your outreach. Take the time to personalize the advantages of working with you to the challenges they have—focus on the issues that are most pressing for the physician group based on your research.

Examples of real-world applications can be the tipping point in a sale as they show the physician group that your claims are supported by evidence. Case studies, testimonials, and other success stories allow prospects to preview a working relationship with your organization.

Be purposeful in the success stories you choose, though; be sure to include case studies or clinical trials that are relevant to the physician group. Even if another application is more impressive, showcasing those that are relevant will do more to attract their attention.
