Collectively, the top 10 VA hospitals have an estimated 359,951 ER visits, with an average of 35,995.

Many of the hospitals on the list are in states with large numbers of veterans: Texas, California, Illinois and Florida. According to Definitive Healthcare data, Texas alone accounts for 37% of the ER visits across the top 10 VA hospitals, while California accounts for 30%. It makes sense that these hospitals made the top 10 since the hospitals in these states have more people in need of their services.
