(00:26):
As CEO and founder of Definitive Healthcare, Jason Krantz has a history of starting and building research-based businesses, focused on providing the highest quality and most timely data in information intensive industries. He is an owner and board member of several data and media businesses in the healthcare sector and an industry expert on healthcare trends and development. And with that, I’ll turn things over to Jason.

Jason Krantz (00:51):
Thanks, Allison. And I want to also address the audience and say thank you for your time today. We really appreciate it. We know you’re very busy.

(01:00):
For those of you that are not familiar with Definitive Healthcare, we are the leading provider of data and analytics on the healthcare industry. So we track all providers from hospitals to physicians to clinics. In a nutshell, we’ve tracked data on every single provider of healthcare in the United States.

(01:21):
So you might ask, why is Definitive Healthcare talking about the most important trends within the healthcare industry for 2020? The reason is simple. Over the last 10 years, we’ve been providing service to over 2,500 clients across the entire spectrum of the healthcare industry. We serve life sciences companies. We have nine of the top 10 medical device companies as clients. We have nine of the top 10 staffing firms, and over seven of the top 10 technology companies. All of this has allowed us to gather information from our clients, work with them, and try to understand what’s most important to them and how can we help them.

(01:58):
And now it’s time for the big reveal. These are the eight most important trends in the healthcare industry for 2020. As we deep dive into these, I want you to notice the correlations between the different trends. A couple of things to point out. Data is incredibly important across many of these different trends. The consumers want it, the physicians are using it more, and it’s creating security issues. In addition, the move towards outpatient you’ll see to be pretty prevalent in many of these as well. It’s creating new complexities, new shortages of nurses and doctors, and many other challenges for the industry.

(02:36):
Trend number one, healthcare accelerates its IT journey. In general, the utilization of IT within the healthcare industry has really been growing over the last 10 years. EHR has become much more prevalent, and all of the systems to start to gather and collect data has been incredibly important to the industry as a whole.

(02:57):
I want to focus on a few of the newer technologies that are really picking up steam. AI is an example. AI is everywhere, but it’s particularly important within healthcare. For example, AI is being used in the medical imaging market, and that’s going to grow from $20 billion to a projected $265 billion in just six years. In addition, in-home tech, from wearables to smart home healthcare, is an exploding market predicted to reach over $30 billion by 2023… .
