What Pennsylvania IDN has the most affiliated hospitals?
The Pennsylvania health system with the most hospitals is Universal Health Services, with 182 hospitals. They are among the top 3 U.S. IDNs based on the number of hospitals. Across these hospitals, Universal Health Services also has more than 21k staffed beds, making this IDN the largest in PA based on available beds as well. With more beds, they can service more patients, with discharges that exceed 700k, a number that places them on the list of top IDNs in the United States based on the number of discharges.
The health system with the second most affiliated hospitals is Select Medical Corporation, with 121 hospitals. They are also one of the top IDNs, based on the number of hospitals within its network, when comparing all IDNs across the U.S.
PAM Health has the third-highest number of hospitals in PA with 63 affiliated hospitals.

What Pennsylvania IDN has the highest net patient revenue (NPR)?
The IDN in Pennsylvania with the highest net patient revenue is Universal Health Services, with an NPR of $10.4 billion, according to the most recent 12-month interval in our database. It is also the Pennsylvania IDN with the greatest number of hospitals, staffed beds, and discharges.
The IDN with the second highest NPR in Pennsylvania is St. Luke’s Health Network, with an NPR of $10.3 billion. It is a nonprofit health network that provides care at 15 medical campuses and more than 300 Pennsylvania and New Jersey locations.
University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) has the third-highest net patient revenue in Pennsylvania with an NPR of $10.1 billion. It has over 35 hospitals that service Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, and West Virginia.
